French violin by Francois Caussin, Neufchâteau ca. 1855-1860. The violin is not labelled which is not unusual for the work of Francois Caussin. For many of his works, Caussin used labels of other famous violin makers, including J.B. Vuillaume. Most of Caussin’s instruments were copies, which is why it is difficult to certify his work.
