Description
Very good violin bow by Joseph Arthur VIGNERON père (1851 – 1905). It was built around 1900.
VIGNERON père was born in Mirecourt and was the son of a baker. He learned his trade from Claude Nicolas HUSSON, with whom he worked until 1872. He then worked for Jean-Joseph MARTIN until 1880. After that, VIGNERON père moved to Paris, where he worked for the renowned company GAND & BERNARDEL Frères. In 1888, he became self-employed in Paris.
VIGNERON père has meanwhile developed his own style, which can be clearly recognized: The pins in the silver parts of the frog and legs are particularly thick (1.2 mm) and the head facets of the stick become noticeably wider towards the top.
The bow bears the stamp “A.VIGNERON A PARIS”.
The condition of preservation is very good. The weight of the bow is 61 grams.
