Description

Very good violin bow by Eugène CUNIOT, called CUNIOT-HURY (1861-1910), from around 1905.

He learned the bow maker profession from his father, Pierre CUNIOT. After his father’s death in 1884, he took over the family business at just 22 years old. His company had many orders, and despite the big competitor C.N.BAZIN in Mirecourt, CUNIOT-HURY employed up to seven workers around 1900.

The bow is made after a model by Xavier TOURTE and also bears the stamp ‘Tourte.’

The round stick is made from very good Pernambuco and is very sturdy. All metal parts are made of silver. The bow weighs 62 grams.

The bow comes from the estate of the well-known expert Jean-Francois RAFFIN.
