Description

Rare cello in size 1/2 by Jean-Baptiste SALOMON (1713 – 1767) Paris.

SALOMON is one of the most important representatives of the Vieux Paris School (Old Paris). He was born in Reims and started his own business as a violin maker in Paris. Above all, his cellos are highly sought after.

Our instrument bears the original note: Salomon Lutir. A St. Cecille Place de L’ecole ‘Paris 1750.  In addition, there is a brand stamp on the bottom below the suppository with the name Salomon, which unfortunately is no longer easy to read.

The cellos from SALOMON are now traded at around € 60,000.

Our small 1/2 cello, with a corpus length of 66 cm, is suitable for a very committed child who may aspire to a career as a cellist.
