Description
Fantastic violin bow by Victor FETIQUE (1872 – 1933) from around 1920.
Victor FETIQUE, like so many great bow makers, was born in Mirecourt and worked for several well-known bow makers (HUSSON, MALINE, MIQUEL, BAZIN). Victor FETIQUE moved to Paris in 1901 and worked for CARESSA & FRANÇAIS before setting up his own business in 1913.
Our bow has a round rod made of very good pernambuco in the color brown-orange. The ebony frog wears a mother-of-pearl eye with a narrow silver ring (Parisian eye). The split gusset is fastened with one pin each and the silver strip is also fastened with two pins. The leg is a silver capsule attached with a pin.
The bow is in an almost new state of preservation and weighs 59 grams with a light silver wrapping.
The bow bears the stamp FÉTIQUE A PARIS on the pole below the frog and again the same stamp under the silver wrapping.
